In petroleum refine process, is required about 246 to 340 liters of water per barrel of crude oil, producing wastewater quantity about 0,4 to 1,6 times the volume of the processed oil. During the crude material transformation to products like gasoline, kerosene, lubricants, naphtha, diesel, and etc., are used for refining a large variety of solvent with different levels of solubility to extract desirable substances. This process steps produce wastewater with several organic and inorganic pollutants, including fenolic compounds, sulfites, ammonia, cyanides, poly aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
